Showing in the first few results on Google, for example, can make an immeasurable difference to the success of your business, and achieving this is referred to as Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).
The importance of this has been proved too many times over the past decade to be ignored.
When it comes to search engines, Google in particular, anything and everything to do with your website pretty much contributes to whether you rank in the SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages).
A lot of what we talk about on this site is carefully integrated into a wider Search Engine Optimisation (or Search Engine Marketing) plan, and we’ll work with you to make sure you understand what’s going on.
Whilst it helps to be a part of the process from the ground up, we do offer Optimisation and Marketing services independent of a wider project (such as a website build). This involves learning how your site works and how it performs, and the sort of people that are looking at your site and whether they’re the right audience, before combining experienced development of backend and frontend strategies involving both code and standard content.
A lot of people see adverts on the side or up the top of the Google SERP, and assume this would result in immediate success for a business. Whilst it can deliver results if executed carefully, it can also be a slippery slope. Remember, anyone clicking on your ad is charging you money, but there’s no surety (let-a-lone guarantee) that their trigger of the ad will result in a sale. An understanding of who uses your site and how they use it and, subsequently, who to target with ads, can be the difference between making money off paid advertising or throwing your budget down the drain.
